Help for Victorian small business owners to start, operate and grow their business

As a small business owner, you don't have to be an expert in all business areas. Getting expert advice and information can help you identify goals, anticipate change and plan for survival and growth.

Whether you're seeking advice on how to start a business, apply for financial help, or how to recover after a flood or bushfire a Small Business Victoria (SBV) program can help.

The help provided offers time savings when trying to understand business compliance and regulation while also improving your strategic business and employee management skills to help your business succeed.

SBV's low-cost and free programs and services operate throughout the year and across the state and include a free fortnightly e-newsletter, a helpline to call, business workshops and training, a mentoring service and the Small Mobile Business Centre.

Small Business Victoria Programs and Services advice and assistance includes:

Business training workshops and seminars

Book into a free or low-cost workshop or seminar to learn from the experts. Small Business Victoria's training and advice sessions cover business planning and organisation, running your business efficiently, budgeting and forecasting, keeping good staff, basics of being an equal opportunity employer, starting your business and the basics of buying a franchise.

The Business Victoria Workshop and Events Calendar allows you to search for business training and events in metro Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Keep updated with upcoming events and workshops in your area, along with business news and regulation advice, by subscribing to the Small Business Victoria Update, sent fortnightly.

If you don't have time to make it to one of the many workshops and seminars find handy tools and templates from the popular Starting a Business, Achieving Financial Success and other workshops in the Operating a Business section of this website.

Need help finding some capitol for new business

Hello -
I have recently opened a new business. It is a pet sitting business and we also offer baby sitting, errand running, respite relief, computer services and many other services.
We also sell pet supplies on our website and Ebay.
The problem is - we need a small investor or business partner to invest a small amount of capitol - 2500-5K is all we need.
We didn't have alot of money to start off and after getting Pet First Aid certified, Adult, Child & Infant First Aid certified, our DBA, Business License, some office items we needed, and advertising we find that we are nearly out of cash

Stolen Business Name

Hi Everyone. I am privy to information that may be useful to the true owner of the business name - Tall Dark and Handy. The person who stole the name use to be a friend of mine -(No longer a friend because he is unethical, dishonest and vindictive). Anyhow, he told me this last summer how he stole the name from a guy in Surrey that was operating a business with the same name. I am prepared to give a sworn declaration stating this fact. I now live in Victoria - does this help? - The Provincial Legislature and most government offices are located here.
How can I locate the TRUE owner of the business? - it is == "Tall Dark and Handy" handyman services

Daycare/Childcare Questions

Daycare is a much needed service in most all communities. However, it is not always a service that is easy to find, or provide. Many families need quality childcare but things such as cost & location can make it difficult to find the perfect service.
We are in the process of building a business that provides accessible and affordable daycare services. We would like parents & families in the community to provide us with their opinions on such a service, here in Victoria. At your convenience, please take a few minutes to answer some of the questions below. Thanks for your time in helping us get started on creating a business that will be useful to your family and the community as a whole
