Not the responses I was hoping for.

I have to be honest, these aren't the responses I was looking for.
Just assume our compensation package, location and reputation are beyond the stereotypical "competitive." We are not naïve.
We need an IT Manager with server implementation and maintenance experience - including virtualization and hosting. The IT Manager should also be able to handle some programming and be competent with SQL, Exchange, Citrix, Mac Server, SharePoint and enterprise level software. The “small business” stuff would require some help desk work, unfortunately. We are certainly willing to take trade-offs because we know not everyone will possess each of the skill sets

I would like to make a point to ponder...

The gallery has overhead, of lease costs, utilities, insurance, advertising, as well as paying the bright young thing at the desk to help one sell. Software for the tracking of gallery business is expensive, that includes the accounting part.
Then there is that mailing list...
I checked into it, not that long ago, and AYE CARUMBA!! Never mind...
In the Pacific Northwest, gallery space is at premium rate. We're talking $1500+ for a small gallery spot. Add to that all of the aforementioned, and that's why you have that split.
It may seem to be just about the money, but it's not. It is a very complex issue.

Tech Business idea based on experience Thoughts?

In small-town America, it seems that if it's smarter than a toaster, the "Computer Guy" can fix it. I work as an IT Director for a county in BFE. They think the same, and I find myself fitting their mold to stay employed. Actually, I enjoy it and if they provided me the resources required, I'd enjoy it more.
There's too many "businesses" in the tech world that keep business based on their customer's ignorance of what is supposed to be done. I consistently end up doing it myself because I'm the poor bastard that has to keep it working after they're gone, and most times I would've done it better and faster had I just done it myself to begin with
