Software for Service Businesses

Choosing your company’s customer service software can be a daunting task. With so many support solutions in the market, how do you find the perfect system? Are the features you think you need from customer service software the same as what other companies need?

Last week on the blog, Software Advice shared some intriguing facts on why businesses buy customer service software. They talked with hundreds of customer support managers, vendors and IT directors from June 2011 through May 2013 to find out:

  • The top reasons for replacing customer service software

  • The top reasons for buying customer service software for the first-time

  • The most requested features in customer service software

What they heard from these businesses is that they’re overwhelmed. They’re drowning in support requests and they need help to streamline their customer support operations — and that’s where a support solution becomes essential. Without software to manage these demands, customer service teams work inefficiently and without the right information, and often fail in their mission to provide responsive and satisfactory service to customers.

We worked with Software Advice to create this infographic to make it easier for you to find the right customer service software for your business. We hope this infographic will guide your selection process so you’ll feel more confident about your choice.

Tax Deduction for Custom Software

I have a software framework that I have developed and I use it to create applications for small businesses. The cost of this service is $3,500. If I use the framework to develop an application for a non-profit, can I apply this to my taxes? I have been told that I cannot apply this to my taxes because it is not a physical object.

Rebate Businesses, what's wrong with them?

I was looking though the fine print in online payment services such as Amazon Payments and Google Checkout, and one of the prohibited use types is "rebate-based businesses."
I was looking into this because I do have a few affiliate links on my Web site to things I use for the Web site such as the Web template, hosting service, charting software, etc. And I thought I would experiment with offering a rebate so that people buy through my site. So the money I receive and pay out seems to fall under "rebate-based business." I don't think I'm doing anything illegal or uneth
